Is this a male?

Hello, I am new to scorpions. I ordered an emperor scorpion from American Reptile Distributors so they of course sent me an Asian Forest Scorpion instead and won't return my emails. Anyway, I have this little guy now and would love it if someone could confirm the sex for me. I suspect it is a male.

That's a male. They have longer pectine then females.

Also the operculum has a notch in it at the top.

The pet trade has made the Asian Forrest scorpion gene so messed up.

It definitely is not an Emperor though.

This is an Emperor Pandinus Imperator for reference.

I definitely knew as soon as I opened the container that it wasn't an emperor scorpion. My best guess was Asian Forest Scorpion of some type.

Heterometrus silenus, definitely male. A species from Vietnam, not Malaysia.
Scientific names are way more useful than common names.

Thank you for that! I was thinking H.petersii, and that was a very uneducated guess. This is my first scorpion. It's always nice to know what you're caring for.
