Okay somebody is selling their entire hermit crab setup. He said everything is used, unless stated.

I'm going to copy & paste everything included. He also gave 3 pictures which I will show below:

Used starter Kit comes with: 7.5"x5" Habitat, T-Rex crab food 1/2 bottle, plastic food bowl, I shell with sponge for water, mini spray bottle to keep crab moist, intruction sheet.

1 brand new bottle of T-Rex crab food

4 T-Rex shells sets of 2 (8 total) for your growing and changing crab

1 5lb container of Glo-in-the-Dark Calci sand

1 T-Rex Coconut Crab Shack. Great for hiding and sleeping

1 Larger Habitat 11"x7"

2 packs of T-Rex Climbing background. 1 has been cut into pieces. 1 is brand new still sealed in pack

2 hand painted shells

1 Bag of Fresh Dried Banana Treat. They like this but love real fruit instead especially peeled grapes.

1 T-Rex Crab Island Heat Mat. Crabs love to be warm and moist. (Gives them a humid environment)

1 Terra Bark pack, broke into 3 for climbing and hiding

1 T-Rex water spray bottle

He is selling all of this for $33 USD

Is this a good deal? Should I get it or forget it? How much would all of originally go for or how much is stuff actually worth?

yes that is a good deal. I have hermit crabs and have spent alot more than that to get what you would be getting. the heat mat alone is about 16 bux.

I agree. That seems a pretty fair price. I didn't do an exhaustive search, sticking largely with one site that I felt represented average prices. That heat mat sells for 18.99. I saw calci-sand at 3.49 for a two pound bag (He is offering a 5 pound bag, so we will call that a 7 dollar value just to make it simple). Crab food runs around 2.49. The climbing background I saw priced at 2.99 a pack.(he provides 2) A coconut shack was 2.69.

By my calculation, we are already roughly at 37 dollars and we haven't even factored in the cages at the other assorted accessories. Naturally, this is all depending on the condition of everything, but I'd say that judging by the descriptions and the photos, it's a safe bet that it is all usable at the very least.

In comparison, here is a link to a brand new kit that I found while looking this stuff up: Hermit crab kit Note that it does NOT include a heating pad.

Hope this helps a little. I think I would go for it if it were me.

For those of you who are familiar with the false bottom setup (widely used for tropical scorpion species), would it work okay with hermit crabs?

yes i have used them for mine, just put as much substrate in as you want, though i would fill it to the top of the false bottom.
