Is Silica sand safe?

I'm getting some Hottentotta hottentotta in a few days and I'm not sure if Silica sand is safe to use with them! any one have any idea? thanks

I use plain old play sand from the DIY center nearby. $3 for 25lb. bag. Nothing I have is kept on pure sand as a substrate, but the Parabuthus have sand/topsoil mixture, 75/25.
I've read that silica sand is very fine granules and could/might cause potential problems.
Maybe someone using silica can shed more light. Just my 2 cents.

ok thanks, I have a large bag of it for growing Carnivores plants! ill just get some play sand I guess! I can just use dry eco earth for now!
