I bought this male or female from Petco today. The care sheet they give gives a scientific name of Scaphiostreptus parilis and a common name of Giant African Millipede. Is this different from Archispirostreptus gigas African giant Millipede? I included a link to a photo I took as I can't make my photos 100 kb.
Any thoughts on this would be great.

I find it next to useless classifying millipedes scientifically just because there are so many color morphs and different varieties that develop (among other reasons which im nowhere near educated about).

You are better off calling it a "Giant African Black Millipede"

To answer your question, they are more than likely the exact same thing or, just different species commonly mixed up and mislabeled.
