I've read through about 10 threads without anything conclusive, looked at the regulations, and I don't see any mention of the species anywhere.

I've seen threads going back and fourth for Platymeris biguttatus, and how one member is in a facility that proves they get inspected (2020 threads), but Psytalla horrida there is 0 mention of and I've yet to find an article citing the species specifically.

I currently do not own any, infact I was fixated on Psytalla horrida specifically and spent many hours researching them, tonight was the first time I even considered Platymeris biguttatus as a potential tied over or experience gainer, and that's where I stumbled upon the legality threads calling them out specifically but not P. horrida.

Does anyone know for sure? I've already turned away from P. biguttatus since threads made them sound like a black market.

I recall them being illegal a long time ago so I never got any, not sure what the situation is now.

I know @BoyFromLA has some, maybe he can answer your question.

They're technically illegal, as are many commonly kept arthropods including exotic mantids, isopods etc., but the laws aren't enforced and the chances of getting in trouble over them are basically zero. They're definitely not "black market" and are sold openly by many commercial vendors.

Makes sense. That's like everything out of Brazil technically.

From my understanding they are illegal only do to a law change. The new law says the host country must issue written permission for you to export one. They will not do this, however here is where it gets murky. Offspring of already exported animals, are technically domestically produced. The host country says no because their parents export was illegal. Our law says otherwise. So yes they are illegal but it is not enforced.
