So a couple of days ago, "John Wick" started swinging his front arms around and started falling down sometimes. Then this morning he was just laying on his back.... I thought he died. But he flipped back over when I touched him. And now he is really jerking and flailing around.... I put him in this small container last night so he wouldn't fall from a height that could hurt him. And so we could easily get to food and water. Although I don't think he as eaten anything in a few days anyway.... The only thing that happened out of the norm.. was that it got really cold for a few hrs. Like 40's for an hr, and maybe 32f or 35f for 30-40 min. Anyone seen this??? Have any ideas? Anything I can do to help him?

Poor baby.. he almost looks like he has dks… I’ve never personally seen it in a jumping spider but the movements are very similar. He could also be getting old, but I’ve never had any of my old timers move like this so it makes me think there’s a bigger issue here. I wish I had more to offer other than observe and edit, unfortunately if he does have dks there’s really nothing you can do except make him as comfy as possible :(

I was thinking a bit more, it would be very interesting to see his enclosure; and for whatever reason the cold drop happened, it might have damaged his nervous system… I hope he’s warmer now and pulls through!

Thank you for your help. What is dks? I have had a pretty serious case of arachnophobia all of my life. This little guy was my attempt to bond and retrain my brain. I've only had him for about a week... Is there anything I could have done, or mistakes I may have made that could have caused this? I did extensive research and consulted with university entomology department. I thought I did everything correctly... Just seems like crazy bad luck for this to happen a week after getting him. I have a hard time believing in coincidence.

Yes he is in his little rehabilitation box on top of my gecko enclosure. It's right at 77°f. I'll try to get a photo posted shortly.

Could have been the cold, it's a fast drop, but I've found these hibernating in ice crystals before and brought them in to 80 degrees and they started hopping around within 5 minutes. Have seen DKS in one, but I'm pretty sure it was poisoned and died within minutes of twitching. Hydration is the only remedy on the chance it's just dehydrated(can't pump enough fluids to walk right), otherwise good luck.
