Hello!!
Please bear with me, I’m new to the forums and the hobby in general. I got my first spider - a jumping spider, in April so about 3-4 months ago.
Things were going great up until yesterday. I woke up and found him curled up in one of the fake plants in his enclosure. Not getting too into detail, I very much believed he was dead. However when I came back from work, he had moved a few inches. He even jumped when I opened the enclosure to get a closer look!!
I created a little spider ICU for him - a small cup with a damp cloth for humidity. I’ve tried giving him water on Q-tips, as well as bug guts and honey water as some other hobbyists have suggested to me.
Today however, he hasn’t moved at all. He’s very limp and the white bands on his legs look brown. I tried blowing him gently as I’ve seen some people say to do - and he doesn’t move at all. He also has a bit of a pungent odor. However, he hasn’t curled up in the usual spider death curl - so I’m not confident making the call myself. Is he dead??
Edit: He isn’t very old, to be clear. So I can’t base the possibility of death off of age. I’m fairly confident the issue is/was dehydration, as I learned later that the care guide I was given to go with him did not have proper information.
