I just moved, I’m living in idaho and the temperatures constantly fluctuate. It gets around 68-69 in my room at night, maybe even lower. Whenever I turn on the space heater in the morning and shine light on her tank, she climbs to this wall (The side with the space heater(pic4) and bunches up like this. All in all, I’m just worried about her well being and would like any information from you all. I’d love honest feedback on her tank set up as well. Thank you!
68 degrees is already quite cold - at least in the long run.
I don't know the course of the year in terms of temperatures at your place, if it gets warmer, I would - and that's just my personal opinion - do without the heater.
It's obvious that you really made an effort with the enclosure and it looks really great. But even half of the space would still be very large for the little one ...
My Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens also actively seeks the warmer side of her enclosure. As long as you are not overdoing the heat (say, above 26 Celsius), I think you'recht ok. Make sure she has access to fresh water.
Used to live in Idaho near Boise. High 60's is a pretty good room temp to have w/o a space heater. It can get -10 degrees in the winter there. The space heater should be in link with a thermostat/temp probe. Some of those things suck as far as keeping an average temp.
Edit: Very nice setup though btw, take the space heater off that cardboard box asap.
You can buy a space heater with a set thermostat for like $50 at the local Walmart. I keep my room with my T's a cozy 75F. I live in Wyoming and it has been very cold here and it has still worked great, but depending on the insulation in your home YMMV.
Be very careful though as space heaters dry out a room very quick and I find myself having to water my T's like twice a week to keep them from getting bone dry or staying at the moisture level I want for the more needy species.
Beautiful enclosure btw. Pretty big, but the GGB will honestly just use the parts it wants and ignore the rest. It actually looks like it's set up a pretty nice home.
