To start I am not the biggest fan of spiders they terrify me. Today I noticed a cupboard door was slightly open and I couldn’t shut it and as I tried to shut it a bit big ass huntsman come at my hand it scared me and I left it and just kept peeking over the cupboard at the spot it was sitting then I peaked my head over again after a while and the big fella charged at me scared me shitless and normally huntsman’s around are way more passive and run away a lot more but this guy didn’t even run after trying to attack me twice just went back to the spot where he was sitting and wondering if anyone could give me some advice whether it has laid eggs in the cupboard and is defending them or if I just pissed it off trying to shut the cupboard door and will it end up moving because I do need the cupboard any advice would help thank you. Just to mention I don’t care if their there just not in my space and I would not be happy if I killed it which is why I decided to leave it If anyone could give me some idea how to me it or check if it’s still if the cupboard without attacking me aswell it would be appreciated. Thank you

At least with Asian and West African Huntsman, the moms will usually sit on top of the sack and it will look like a cotton ball. I’d look around with a flashlight from a distance

Let's back up. It did not attack you. When they charge about it's purely fright-flight instinct. They are completely harmless to humans. If it managed to 'catch' you it's simply their plan to find a preferably vertical surface to hide. When they hunt, normally in near or complete darkness, they can be a little frightening in that they prowl quite slowly with the burst of speed when something edible comes under their radar, something almost never seen if there is light.
In my experience of observing several dozen in the wild which includes inside our home they simply don't recognize humans as bite targets and even captured with me and mine offering them targets for attacks the only thing they want to do is find a safe haven to lurk until dark. I've never seen a threat display, it's always blitz to safer locations.

Plus side, they're fun to watch. Sit still where you become a part of the scenery and you become the scenery to them. This may afford you the very rare opportunity to see them in stalking mode. But be forewarned they may get inside your clothing and you will need help getting undressed and them out without harming them. But they won't try to bite.

Females usually carry their egg sacks clamped in their chelicerae through the entire gestation period and only release it some minutes or hours after the kids have ran off.

unfortunately the big fella disappeared clearing out the cupboard tonight to have a look for him or her or it’s eggs sack if I find it again. I definitely will send photo I have seen him couple times before on the wall a few months ago but the photos I currently have don’t do it justice I will still send them but I am Australian and have seen many huntsman but this one is probably about the size of my hand while in the photo it looks like just a medium sized one. Ignore the caption I was too lazy to edit the photo IMG_2156.jpeg IMG_2156.jpeg

Yeah know the fellas are harmless I’m happy to watch them slowly move around my wall from a distance just chilling just scared the shit outta me when it charged me I know it wouldn’t try to hunt me they normally pretty chill the big ones and I agree it is cool to watch em move around and It was dark in the cupboard and I reckon when I was trying shut it I spooked it and it charged me but when I peaked my head over it must’ve been agitated which is my fault haha didn’t see an egg sack on em which is hopefully a good sign because I can deal with the one big fucker but 200 small fuckers are ten times more scary

Wish I had spiders that big here!!!! I saw a giant crab or some sort 3-4”+ once but it must had went extinct or been a freak species . Only saw it in the country possibly a fishing spider. In the city no spiders bigger then Argiope and I never
see those either. Free pest control !!your lucky 🍀!

Is a comedy routine we put our lives on hold to watch. Sometimes 10 or more come in under a door and start ranging about. A bunch of ultra curious kids. You can even get them to crawl on you if you are patient. It's super weird as you can barely feel them. Extremely light footed. We eventually shoo them out as there are too many hazards in a home. We keep a feather duster around for that job as it just scoots them without causing harm.

hey just wondering whether you know how small of gaps huntsman can squeeze through because I’m just double checking they still aren’t hiding in the cupboard and just wanna be how sure how thoroughly I should search

Just guessing, about 1/8th inch. They don't seem to be real big on tight spaces. Like to stretch their legs so to speak. Adult females probably want around 1/4 inch. Chunky.

It could be anywhere. Check under the sink.

when you find it just put it outdoors. Usualy they keep the sac with them.

clean your cupboards just in case. Unless there happens to be a sac and they make it on their own.

personaly, i dont like hundreds of slings crawling on me in my home.

i put everything outside.

except jumpers. They are the Lords of the house.
