I am trying to set-up all my roaches in naturalistic vivaria, using pretty apothecary jars and some tanks. No more rubbermaid tubs. Is it ok to mix some species with others, as long as they are not the same genera so there is not cross breeding? For instance, I'm wondering if I could put my harlequins in with my black velvets or porcelins. Beetle mimics with six-spotted or hissers? Like that.... Has anyone done this?

ive seen a number of people have 2 or 3 diffenrent species living together like dubia with orangeheads or lobsters with lateralis. i dont know if i would do that though. keep a large breeding stock in the rubbermade cause its dark and they will breed faster. than keep a few dozen in a display tank. thats what i would do.

problems i had mixing species

1) "protein hungry" species will eat the young of other species

2) fecund species outbreed other species

i'm still picking stupid lobsters out of my hisser colony =P
