Is it ok to have leaf cutter ant shipped from Europe?

I am moving to Ottawa and I don’t know if I can buy a breed of atta sp. from a UK or German vendor

I asked few vendors down south in Texas or Florida and they said they couldn’t ship atta texana cross the border. But seemingly it’s a US problem coz it‘s literally illegal in the US to ship a live ant queen amid states.

What about Canada? It’s my first time to work and live in Ottawa.

There are ant vendors in Canada, but given that none of them seem to carry Atta, I imagine there are restrictions in place. As with pretty much all herbivorous insects, you likely need a permit to import or keep these. Your best bet is to contact CFIA and ask them.
