Is it normal to see the pedical on a tarantula?

I've noticed it one a few of my T's, but I guess it depends on the way they are sitting. If the opisthosoma is bent away from the cephalothorax it's more visible. Like when they are feeding for instance.

IME, it's much more visible on my bigger spiders. It's almost freaky the way it's attached, and can move almost independently!

I've noticed this on several of mine, sometimes it looks like they are only attached by a thread!

You'd think they'd be a little beefier because it looks like it would snap right off.
