Is it ethical to keep a wild T. tranquillus as a pet?

I found one on my hoodie about 2 weeks back as my brother notified me of it and wanted me to kill it. However I made it an enclosure and put it in. Is this ethical or should I let it back outside somewhere like in my basement? I also noticed it had lost 2 legs when I caught it, meaning releasing it may be a bad idea as it seems there are predators to it in my house. Please give me some advice! Thank you :)

Darwin would tell you to release it.
Being of a soft heart, I'd probably keep it til the legs grew back before releasing it. But most likely, that's totally unnecessary. It would almost certainly be fine out in the wild with six legs.

the thing is- its quebecois autumn/winter right now i'd have to keep it anyways; do i want it to die? its 59f in the middle of the day right now and its just gonna get worse as the year goes on. im asking for the future; ill consider it during this time where it cant go in the wild.

You found a tarantula in Quebec???
I am almost speechless with envy. Canada never ceases to amaze me.

It’s no more unethical than keeping tarantulas or scorpions or any other pet. Letting it go outside is fine too, they occur there naturally, they grow through the seasons every year as well. Keeping is ok too if you want, they are small and fast though so keep an eye on it!

What kind of basic care should I follow if I keep one? I found one and put it outside but it wouldn't leave the jar. I have widows, jumping spiders and a Steatoda grossa

pretty sure he harvested all sorts of things, while they were alive and breathing. To admire in his homeland.

do you eat meat? If you do, then this is not a question.

Could I feed them dead feeder crickets that can't make it a couple of days past pet store life? If not what else is an option? Live or freshly killed crickets? Canned crickets or mealworms? Freshly killed small mealworms? Flightless fruit flies?

I have all of those live guys and can get the canned ones. I would not have kept him but he stayed in the jar all day, like 5 hours. I didn't want to release him in the house.

Is he a mm? I'm not good with measurements, I couldn't tell you how big he was
