Another convert! I'm curious, which was the species that turned you from arachnophobic to arachnophoric?

16 will soon be 32!

Some dorms do not allow pets. You're gonna have to check with your campus dean or RA. I would hate for them displace your collection once it gets too big to rehome.

Addicted yes 👍 very much so. So much so I keep ones with urticating hairs . Whilst being allergic to them but using gloves I’m fine .

Wow that's pretty generous! I normally only get one freebie, if any, maybe two max.

Where are you ordering from? 😉
Actually maybe don't tell me. I already don't have enough time as is.

Hahaha nice!

That's good, I don't think I could control myself if I got that many freebies!

So you gonna find out if you're allowed to keep them before you end up with 50 stacked up high?

I wouldn't risk it, your roommates (if you have them) might not be understanding of your interests and could really mess up your day if they chose to snitch.

Best to not try to skirt the rules on this one.

I'd come up with a backup location to store them should you be forced to evict the collection from your dorm.

Parent's garage maybe?

Trying not to be. I feel like a weirdo, keeping these creatures that many people are afraid of. Won’t have a place to keep them if I get too many 😅

We're all addicted tbh.

I mean, most people here have 5 or more, heck probably 10 or more, Ts. Can you imagine keeping 10 dogs or cats? Not even many breeders have this many😂 some people would call it hording.

The thing about Ts however, is that they require next to no maintenance at all (assuming you don't have more than 50 of em). You could even argue they do better if given little human attention. Ts don't need to be potty trained, taken out for walks, or socialized, they don't even need to be fed often once they reach a certain size.

I have 15 Ts atm, and I've left them alone for weeks while on holiday or vacation and when I return they're perfectly fine. I just provide 2 slightly deeper water dishes, and feed them as much as they'll eat before I go. Oh, and I leave my slings with a friend since baby Ts do need to be fed and watered more often.

Even people who have 15 small fish won't leave them alone for a month or 6 weeks, you know assuming they don't wanna come back to discover that they now own 15 decaying fish corpses.

So who cares? Being addicted to Ts is like being addicted to coffee, there's next to no harm in it unless you go 1000% crazy.

It’s not addiction, it is boredom.

Lets face it, the most exciting time in tarantula ownership is when they are new and you house them for the first time. After they settle into their new home, there isn’t much else to do except buy more.
