A versicolor is Avicularia versicolor and a normal pink to is an Avicularia avicularua. The coloration differs greatly as well. Versicolor scare more vibrant in color especially as slings.

They are from the same genus, but different species, so in short, no they are not the same.

I was going to include common names, but I can't remember them all! That's why we love scientific names right? :p

they are different species. :) avicularia versicolor are blue as spiderlings and get hues of green, blue, red, and purple as adults.
pinktoes (avicularia avicularia) are darker and not as colorful.

+1 And some of the common names seem to change with whim or weather... Except for the occasional taxonomic name change, the scientific binomial is usually pretty static.

Most of the avicularia genus have pinkie in they're common names so that could get confusin but just using pink toe I would assume a aviv is what is being talked about.

Most definitely. It's hard to keep track of common names. I have a friend that says A. avics are called Mexican pink toes. I in the other hand have never heard of "Mexican" being in they're common names.

To the OP: everyone here appreciates scientific names as it helps us to help you. Not bagging on you or anything, just trying to help. And if you didn't know the scientific name that's okay, now you do.

In my experience I've found A. versicolor to be more expensive than A. metallica. I'm not sure on how sling metallica's look as I only have one that was already pretty large when I got her. Here's a pic of my adult A. metallica and my freshly molted sling A. versicolor.

Also FYI: Metallic pink toes are not Avicularia avicularia. They are Avicularia metallica.

Nonetheless, the poster received some excellent, very specific answers. The differences between the two are certainly more complex than you've stated.

well avic avic is mostly black with pink toes, Avic versicolor starts out blue & slowly ends up with red hairs all over its body & a electric blue carpace
A versicolor is bigger getting around 5.5-6" Avic avicularia is smaller around 5" average
Versicolor actualy dosnt have the classic pink -toes like a few of the other species
MY male Avic avicularia I never bread.. had a blue sheen on it.. was very good looking ...R.I.P MM avic
