My name is Glen and I have no spiders. I do have a nice colony of Discoids that i've had for about 1.5 years and just got 50 Dubias. Started with 15 to raise for Bearded Dragon fodder (hate them crickets). Stumbled onto this forum and been hanging around the outside reading the posts. My big passion is saltwater reef aquariums, but roaches are coming up on the outside. My 11 year old daughter loves to check them out and pet them. She has a favorite on she calls "Todd" she can allways pick him out of the 200 or so adults :). They were a big hit when I brought them to show and tell with her, livened up the crowd when one jumped from my hand onto the carpet. I live in Idaho USA and work as an Field Agronomist doing integrated pest mngmt on a variety of crops. (loved those entomology classes)

I was given this single roach to ID, fairly slow moving, not the best photo. Any ideas?

after some research i have concluded that dollarstoreius dimeapieceius is absolutely what you have there, the flashing on the middle leg on the right side is a dead ringer according to all my textbooks on this species.

Extremely hard to breed in captivity too it seems. Good luck with it, and if you get any babies, i'll take some off your hands.

Yeah...they are VERY hard to breed. I know a chick who works at the dollar store and man, I don't think we'll see those on blaberus.com any time soon.

I'll see if I can get a care sheet for you guys. ;)

;P

Thanks, I mistakenly had it keyed down to Blaberus rubberus or Blattella plastica, silly me. They are hard to breed, but they have a incredible life span!
