Ive kept a lot of different pets and right now just focus mainly on my pdf's and t's, but ive been interested in getting a smaller monitor. I want to avoid some of the larger ones like crocodile, water, nile, etc does anyone have any suggestions? Ive been doing a bit of research, timor monitors are a small species but are a bit skittish, i also was looking at peach throat monitors. I'd like to get a hardier species that stays roughly below 2 ft long.

Oh i forgot to add, with the dwarf monitors i have read that their diet should consist of small mice and also small insects, im assuming that would include coackroaches? it would be great to have another use for my "t" food

Not cheap but I will say I had a black Rough neck monitor that was the best lizard I ever owned....

dumerils don't get overly huge but your best bet is gonna be (sadly) ackies. pricey at the outset but will cost a lot less in the long run.
