Hello, I am relatively new to tarantula keeping. Recently my Curly hair retreated into its cave and molted. I checked today and removed the molt. I found these two insects? in the cavern. The little mite-looking insect was already dead, but the larvae-looking thing is still alive. can anyone identify this thing that I found? Is it harmful and or do I need to put it back in the enclosure? Thank you in advance. Any advice is welcomed to this newcomer!

When you do use mealworms as feeders be sure to thoroughly crush the head.

Problem solved.

Was that mite looking thing alive when you found it?

Where do you get your substrate?

I'm not even sure the developed specimen is coleoptera.

Stop leaving uneaten prey in with your spider, they can eat them while molting.

Whenever you drop prey into the enclosure, stick around to ensure that it is captured and eaten. If not, remove immediately. People have lost freshly molted Ts due to meal/super worm being hidden in the sub, only to reappear later as a adult beetle, a very voracious one at that. As suggested by others, you can crush the head to keep it from burrowing. You can try to feed either the pupa or adult beetle to your T. Keep in mind that not all Ts will take the pupa or adult beetle, in its case as they defend themselves with a foul odour. If refused, either dispose of it or try feeding it to something else, like an insectivorous reptile if you have one.

I did once about 2 to 3 weeks ago.
There’s your answer, with burrowing beetle larvae you must crush their heads before you drop them in and you have to always make sure they don’t burrow. You could have very easily have had a dead tarantula if one of those larvae had munched on a molting tarantula.
