Hi all. I feel like a huge idiot and I’m worried I severely injured my Dune scorpion. I was trying to take some pictures of his very large belly and like an idiot I put him and my phone in a large critter keeper right next to one another, only to drop my phone on him. It could have been worse I guess, but the entire force of the phone falling on him landed squarely on his left arm and Chela, and he started to very quickly lose hemolymph. I’d share pictures but I put him back in his enclosure when this happened, not wanting to agitate him further. Does anybody know what the prognosis is for a crack in the exoskeleton that’s bleeding? Is it possible for a Scorpion to survive and molt through an injury like that?

I did take this photo after removing his hide. The injury isn’t super apparent but the sand that’s clumping up on his left Chela is from hemolymph. I feel so bad for this little guy, I was only doing all this because I was worried he was too big and might be gravid…

It doesn't look bad, and they can survive with one arm if it decides to drop that one. Did you breed it or is it wild caught? Curious to know why you think it's gravid and not just fat.

I’m pretty sure it is just fat, but as far as I know it could be wild caught and preggers. I’ve had him for about a year now give or take? But I was informed that females can hold onto a sperm packet for a while even after being caught and through the trade.
