Is it ok to burn incense in a room with a snake enclosure in it? Will the smoke/fumes have an affect on the snake?

Smokes & scented chemicals in general have the potential to cause irritation to the eyes and respiratory systems of animals. It is generally reccomended that incense, scented candles, cigarettes, etc. not be burned in the same room as animals. That is not to say that your snake will die if you light an incense stick, but over time, consistent use could have negative health effects.

I was wondering about this as well. I used to burn insense once in a great while but now I keep it far way from my animals. A note about cigarettes: Nicotine is highly lethal to snakes, it is even used as an effective form of euthanasia because it is so effective even with low doses.

You should be able to use sage sticks instead. We have birds and sage sticks are the only safe thing that we have found that can be used around them.
They can be bought from ebay pretty cheap.
