My female jumper had been holed up in her hide for about a month and I thought she was just going through one of her "final/final" molts even though she was already sexually mature and I thought might be Done molting (the seller wasn't sure of age but I could see she was sexually mature but NOT gravid).

I've had her for a good two months...I literally watched her carefully Every day because I've been so excited to be a jumper mom. But today I came home to find one of her babies staring up at me from my kitchen table and it looks even into @ least the 2nd instar..it's not all black anymore...(I have her in a Zilla so at least one escaped that I know of, probably more 🙄). I moved her to a new cage where they won't get out but I was definitely stunned.... Obviously I know "where babies come from" but I hadn't coupled her...The closest contact she's had with a male has been Next to the male I have that's her age in SEPARATE netted enclosures...can they mate through mesh?? I SWEAR she wasn't even "showing"/FAT......She was in her "tulip hide" which is just a fake white tulip that you cannot see through except the top so I also couldn't even see an egg sac...mind was completely blown today...lol 🤯

Just wanted to know if anyone can relate? Please be kind, I'm new to this! Time for a parade of baby showers....🤱🤱🍼

Probably just wild caught and already gravid, it happens a lot. I had one I really thought molted before drop a good sac once, threw me for a loop, but I must have just been mistaken thinking it molted. Never heard of pre-maturity mating in these (like widows can).

Thanks for the reply, yeah I just thought for sure I'd be able to tell she was gravid beforehand because I thought they Always look so obviously FAT like they're gonna pop beforehand lol Oh well now I know not always the case!

Literally just happened to my friend. Now she's overrun with unexpected babies.

Enjoy the jumplings!

Exactly that’s only way it’s possible.
