Even though I'm fairly new to the hobby, I figured I wouldn't get a rosea for awhile, if at all. And I thought that if I did, it would surely be a RCF. But today I was at work, and my mom was there with me (my car broke yesterday, so she drove me) and she saw the rosies, and got really excited. I figured if she would pay for it, why not? So I now have a rosie. She's pretty mellow. I had a hard time getting her out of her little cardboard petco box, though. I did want something I could handle, although I generally don't feel the need to do so. My A hentzi is wacky, so I don't want to handle her, and the rest of my Ts are slings. So this rosie is my birthday present.
I almost ended up with a B albopilosum. Apparantly they found it wandering around the breakroom in petco, probably someone just dumped it there. But when the guy went to get it, he found that someone else had taken it home. Would have been an awesome free T, though!

I'm new to the hobby and I just got my first two Ts: a G. rosea sling and a B. albopilosum (like 2" maybe). My albo is awesome! You should go back there and get it!! :D

Congrats, they're really kind of fun! I wasn't going to get one when I first got into the hobby. But my 5th tarantula ended up being a rosea. And now I have 9 of them. They won me over big time!

well i have a nhandu coloratovillosus that im scared to death of handling but i want to handle a tarantula!so why not get a rose hair.the reason im going to buy 1 when i find one is because as you probally heard they have distinct personalties so it would be fun to have a rose hair but i need to find one cheap.

mine was $20, which is normal price from petco. I know I could have gotten one cheaper elsewhere, but this was sort of a spontaneous purchase.

We named her Contessa.

I considered getting the male instead, because he was prettier, and wasn't mature yet, but he showed me a nice threat pose, and so I decided to pass because I wanted something more handleable.

Good call getting the female. Forget the threat pose, no one wants males because they die too quickly and when they are mature they spend all their time trying to get out and find a female.

Oh, and $20 sounds like a real good price. Typical, but good. The cheapest place to get adult rosies is indeed your local pet store since they are wild caught adults (I don't know how they get them so cheaply) and you don't have to worry about shipping costs.

She's a pretty one!

i could have gotten one cheaper from a reptile store by my sister's house, I would have saved $7. But this was sort of an opportunity thing.

I was at that store for eight hours, I should have said something earlier to one of the employees, I might have had a chance at that albo. then i probably wouldn't have gotten the rosie.

Its not fair that boys have prettier colors. I love the metallic pink carapace. this boy wasn't hooked out yet, so I figured he had a fair amount of time left in him, but i don't really want a boy unless i want to breed.

It's not only the males that have pretty colors. My female has a metallic pink carapace too.

really? I haven't seen any females like that... has she always had it, or did it show up after a molt? Any chance my girl's carapace will ever be pretty shiny pink?
