well, this is what happens when one becomes forgetful.
I had Aloura in with Rainbow all day yesterday. They playing tootsie, but never hooked up as far as I could tell.
I FORGOT to get him out of there before bed, and he paid the ultimate price. What's worse, I have no idea if she let him do the dirty deed before she munched him, that rotten B%#^&!
So, I probably wasted my male, my apologies to everyone.

Actually, We have all made stupid mistakes with our T's I am sure.

It's just that most of the time they don't end in death so we never mention them.

Your no murderer, sometimes it's easy to forget about an animal that makes no noise and does not complain.

It's not like a dog or cat or something, when we mess up in our care of pets like them they can let us know. T's just sit there so its easy to forget.

I am sorry for your loss, don't beat yourself up about it though.

You probably have a gravid GBB on your hands. We ended up leaving ours together for about a month. I think it took him that long to figure out what to do....but once he did....MUNCH!!! It took about 7-8 months for her to lay her eggsack. They were together from Oct-Nov and she laid her eggs June. Good luck.

Sorry to see your male get eaten. Its a pretty bad feeling when there is nothing you can do.
I've lost 2 males to my Pterinochilus murinus female, and I only left them alone for a minute or so. I'd heard so many success stories of the females/males co-habitating, I really had hoped they would take up residence together. Instead, my big girl decided she had a headache and spider was on the menu.
If my GBB turns out to be a male, (she/he is already 3.5 inches), I'll be happy to send him to you so you can try again. I suspect she/he will be molting in about 2-3 weeks.

I really wish that one of these days, after mating, the male would stand up for himself and take out the female.

Too many males have been subduced by females in hopes of a quickie, only to have her fangs thrust into his back.

Wouldn't it be great if, instead of inserting his pedipals, he flipped her over and shoved his fangs in?

So many male tarantulas dying after such an intimate moment sickens me. It's time for their revenge.

I took a pic, and noticed AFTER the fact that I had set him on Shelby's school lunch menu ahahahahaahahaha!!!!
So I added 'dead tarantula' to the menu, and snapped another pic =D =D
