i’ve made the decision to separate my A. verrucosus, Ms. Nightshade, from my H. arizonensis, Carbide, because Carbide has a fungal infection and I’d like him to be as stress-free as possible so he can fight it. I’ve moved Ms. Nightshade into her own enclosure and I’ve ordered a second A. verrucosus and two P. diabolicus to live with her. Any other fun ideas? I’d prefer things that can’t climb so I can leave the lid off.

Leaving the lid off is what has caused Carbide's fugal infection - unless you can maintain 90F with the lid off.

H. Ariz. need to be ideally kept at 90 daytime with a few degrees drop at night.

This is the only way to prevent Mycocis long term in a captive environment.

I thought more ventilation equalled less humidity. That’s actually what people were telling me in my initial thread about it. I’ve got a big dehumidifier in the room now and I leave the heat lamp on at all times instead of turning it off at night. From what I can see, his infection hadn’t gotten any worse.

If the RH in your room is say 80% then in an open top enclosure some areas away from the heat source will be 80%.

More heat equals less humidity also, that's why my arid scorpions are all kept at 30+C with a slight drop at night.

As long as you have adequate ventilation it's fine.

Excess ventilation is usually advised to prevent mould forming in tropical setups.

More darklings such as Piedish beetles or Eleodes species could be fun new additions. :)
