Sold to me as a Eucratoscelus pachypus immature male..... but I am starting to have my doubts. He is much much bigger then my female that is on an almost yearly molt cycle, and he is much more defensive and still immature. Opinions? He is about 4" right now. I have never seen a male of this species anyway, so I have no idea what they look like.

Although I'm not expert on ID'ing, my guess is Pterinochilus chordatus... Looks a lot like a T I had recently that needed ID'd also: http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/gallery/showimage.php?i=7321&c=11

Timo Raab from pic and a fellow at the local museum I showed mine to felt mine was a P. chordatus(Kilamanjaro baboon). Mine was smaller, a heavy webber and hooked out at 3.5-4"
The star pattern on carapace looked stronger colored than pics of yours, but leg striping and abdomenal pattern are similiar.

Good looking baboon you have there but it's not a pachypus. Not sure what it is. Sorry

Hi
Sometimes there appears on the internet rather well put together informational web sites that don't try to know everything about all species, but instead concerntrate on one group of spiders.
This means it has been a lot more researched and more indepth information is available to help out on many of the sought after solutions to problems that might crop up from time to time. For example the case in hand...possible species id. I think this site may come in useful.

Click and search around to find a possible answer to your ID problem

Best of luck to you in your search.
Chris:)

I don't know what it is, but I know what it ain't. And that isn't an E. pachypus male. My male was about 1/2 the size of the female when mature.

Sorry, Ryan. I love the Eucratoscelus pachypus, so for this to turn out to be most likely a Pterinochilus is sad. :( However, I will throw in my vote for the chordatus as well, so at least that is a Pterinochilus specie that is a little more on the rare side. I like the looks of it, so it's not a total loss. But, I am sad and sorry for you that it didn't end up being what you paid for.

Definately. The males are incredibly small compared to females.

This is a MM E pachypus. He was small, less than 4".

Same one Hedorah?

I don't know pterinochilus all that well but that 2nd pic sure looks like one to me!
