ID spider from Guatemala

This spider was near our camp in the Rio Dulce region of Guatemala last week. Although the picture does not clearly show it, the body of the spider was actually a brilliant reflective "chrome" color, earning it the nickname "the chrome spider" by those in our group. It is unlike anything I have ever seen. For reference the diameter including the legs was approximately 4 inches. Any help in identification would be appreciated.

That is absolutely gorgeous. Pictures like these are what I show people when they ask me why I like spiders. :)

Was the restatement really needed from you two?

Pulk ID'd it correctly and it should have been left at that...

what was wrong with more than one person id'ing photo?didn't seem big enough deal to warrant a nasty reply
nephila sp. would be my guess too.

not sure about everyone else..but i'd say that is some sort of Nephila sp.
