I found this baby jumping spider and I was wondering if anyone could tell what species it is, also I would like advice on taking care of it because I know they have a very high mortality rate at this size and I want to know if there is anything I can do to increase its chance of survival, I am away from home right now so I don't have access to a fruit fly culture, but I gave it a fungus gnat I found outside, I'm not sure if it ate the gnat but I gave it some water and it had a drink, if it doesn't eat should I give it some watermelon or sugar water since it might like that better? or should I just wait. I hope somebody can help, I have gotten way too attached to it already, and I would be heart broken if it didn't make it. PXL_20240729_174203959.MP.jpg PXL_20240729_174118055.MP.jpg PXL_20240729_174203959.MP.jpg PXL_20240729_174118055.MP.jpg PXL_20240729_174128815.MP.jpg Sorry if the photos are bad, he is very tiny and I couldn't get the camera to focus on him

Oohh he’s so tiny!! Yes give him some honey or sugar water on a qtip or some watermelon. I can tell u he’s not a bold or regius. What state are u in so we can narrow it down a little? Do u have a 2 oz condiment cup u can put him in? Then u can tell if he eats? FF are the best the melanogaster ones are best for him rn those are the smaller ones or anything around that size if u can’t get FF

I live in north america not the US, but I don't want to give any more information due to privacy reasons. We are home tomorrow, so I will give him some fruit flys then, but in the mean time I will definitely feed him some sugar water! Also I do have a deli cup that I got my other jumper in, and when I get home I will put him in that. Thanks for the advice and I'm sorry I can't give an exact location!

lol I wish I knew what species our neighbors have!! Maybe I’ll ask some of my breeder friends that taught me all I know!! And I second online shopping but it sucks since shippings usually more than the FF!!!!

Update, I moved him into this deli last night, which is not actually the one my other spider came in because the holes in that one were too big for him!:bigtears: He also seems to have a healthy appetite which I think is a good sign. He tried to catch the same gnat fly twice on the drive home yesterday:embarrassed:I didn't want to remove it in the car though so I had to let him. I just gave him a fruit fly this morning and he tried to catch it but failed, I haven't seen him try again but I will leave it in there for a couple more hours so he can take his time. e1009eee-ff3a-4376-bf39-2beacf2b2a71.jpg 4569f353-cb94-4422-9850-ccc7a8b799ab.jpg 6f5e03c1-67f1-45a7-9ab7-2d70965ae818.jpg

Are you a serial killer, is that why you cant even give the region?

You do realize, once we determine the species, we'll know what region you're in anyway lol.

UPDATE: unfortunately yesterday morning when I went to check on him he had passed:sad:. I had kind of expected it the night before because he wasn't moving around as much, and he was ignoring the fruit fly I gave him, but it was still quite the shock and it was very sad. I haven't touched anything yet in case he is just molting or something but it looks like a death curl to me. I know it is very common for them to die for no reason at that age, but its still hard not to feel guilty when something dies early in your care. I am still curious as to what species he was so if anyone has an idea let me know.
