hello, i found this dead in my living room, and iw as wondering what it was, i'm not botherd with scientific name, i would just like to know what it is, if it's a wasp or a fly or whatever, it has a black body and orange/red legs, sorry that the pictures are bad quality.

I believe it's a thick-waisted wasp, known as a "horntail". I don't think they can sting.

Some sort of parasitic wasp I would guess, Wade has the advantage here lol

I don't *think* they're parasitic. I think they use the big ovipositor to lay eggs in cracks in wood and the larvae are plant feeders.

thanks :p i knew it was a wasp but my mum didn't beleive me, (tut parents :rolleyes:) well thanks alot anyway i really appreciate it :)

oh i still got it, i'd like to mount it on a pin, if i knew how lmao, can anyone help? or am i so braindead at the fact you just stick a pin threw it? :D lmao sorry

If you want a nice display, you're gona have to rehydrate, span the legs and wings, then dry again for the permanent mount. If you're really interested, try google "insect dry mount" etc. Don't forget to show some pictures when it's done!
