Went to a recent reptile expo last weekend and bought a tailless whip scorpion. It was labeled as "Red Eyed Whip" scorpion, but I couldn't find anything on it when I searched it up. I don't want to assume that they were falsely naming things to make a sale and that I'm just not looking hard enough. Its pretty active and has the strongest hunt response I've seen in any arachnid. This is my first whip scorpion.

Im not the best at IDing I'll let others help there but I'm glad yours has a good feeding response. Mine is far more reclusive and doesn't have the best feeding response. Make sure to keep it moist (substrate).

The spots on the front of the prosoma are a dead giveaway, looks like a Phrynus whitei.

Darn, one even I can ID and Gil beat me here!

Please read up on amblypygi care here in the forum and don’t hesitate to ask any questions. These are wonderful creatures, and we are always happy to help people provide correct care for them!

I've got a juvenile Phrynus Whitei with a fantastic feeding response. Not too scared either. Awesome species!

Thank you for the quick response everyone! I love how it's always actively surveying it's surroundings with its' antennas. Once it catches a wiff of a cricket it would dart towards the direction of its prey and hunt it down with no hesitation. It's super cool to watch! It seems like the care for Phrynus Whitei is a little different compared to Damons.

Apparently Phyrnus are more pickier, harder to breed and they require seasonal environmental changes to induce breeding? Not looking forward to that. I just learned while looking them up that there are different morphs depending on the region their from. Mine closely resembles the Guatamalan morph. I was hoping to find more of these guys to start breeding them, but they're hard to find and are way more expensive than what I got them for at the expo. Maybe I should start with breeding Damons instead?
