Alligator lizards pretty much....ROCK. Was it sold to you as a skink? The Tx. Alligator lizard is sold here for $50 and it's a local lizard.

Lay eggs. I have experience with the Tx. alligator lizard but not the sp. you have. I had a friend that found one one like yours in Cal. I think it was Cal. Tx. alligator lizards get pretty big and have prehensile tails. Just a really nice lizard. Get pretty big too. Did you google that sucker? You should get some good info. Ha!.....a skink:liar: . They will hire anybody at a pet store. The last one I caught, I put him on a tree in my backyard to get some sun and forgot about it:mad: . Oh, well. Arthros are easier anyway.

Hello,
Yes the Northern Aligator lizard is a live bearer, usually giving between 2-7 babies, and they are very good lizards, great eaters, very friendly. I have had many of them over the years and it is one of my fav. local lizards...

Northern Alligator Lizard-Reproduction
(Elgaria coerulea=Gerrhonotus coeruleus)
Live bearing (viviparous)
Mating:
In Western Washington "mid April-late May" (Vitt 1973 Herpetologica 29:176-184)
"Breeding season varies locally... San Francisco: mid April; Sierra Nevada (Calif.) first half June; Montana, British Columbia, Oregon, Washington: April-May. (Smith 1946 "Handbook of Lizards")
