One of my coworkers found these in & around his garage. Basically the garage is completely infested with them and we're trying to determine where they come from. We're kinda thinking they may have hitched a ride on some car parts or something from someplace a little warmer then Detroit, MI

Anyway here are the pics

Just a guess...

Hi,

if i´d dare to throw a guess in here: first pics remind me of some kind of Pisaura spec.

The latter ones look like Dolomedes spec., but i lack the personal experience with that one.

Nice spiders nevertheless, wish they´d be native here, too.

Greetings,

Stefan

I do realize they are two different spiders. I'm posting on behalf of a coworker so I haven't even seen the spiders first hand. All I know is that the darker spiders (round abdomen) have infested every thing in his garage and the lighter colored ones are being found in large numbers around the outside.

The lighter first spider is without a doubt a Pisaurid, and I could give you the species if I had my golden guide. :D The second, darker spider is the fishing spider Dolomedes tenebrosus, one of my personal favorite spiders. Both are closely related, and both are completely normal to find in MI. They're not dangerous, but the Dolomedes are aggressive biters when cornered.
