I was just reminded why C. crawshayi rocks!!! So it was a typical feeding day and I was debating if I should try and feed my 2.5" C. crawshayi. I put a cricket in with her every week and most of the time I pull it out two days later and feed it to something else. I give my African burrows a bit longer to find their meals considering some of them have burrowed rather deep. I noticed that there was a clear section at the bottom of the cage that I could see into and about 1" of soil separating her from the topside so I decided Id drop one in because she will normally eat when the cage looks like this.
So about 60 sec. after I drop the cricket in the cricket has moved right above the clear spot and my C. crawshayi has moved right below the cricket. So of course I have to watch just in case this is my only change to see her eat in the next year :wall: I waited for 20 min. as the cricket nibbled on some web and dirt for who knows what reason. All of a sudden BAM!!!!! my now 3" C. crawshayi shoots through the soil nails the cricket and decided to go topside to eat. I have not seen her in about three months and she got much larger and I got to watch er enjoy a meal for the first time in like 6 months. Cool day.
