I was in my bathroom and I have 3 of those betta wall bubble things on the wall. One has some guppies in it and the other two I had used for failed plant setups. I got to thinking and thought these could make pretty good set ups for some of the larger slings (avics?) if a proper top was fashioned? It keeps critters like dogs, cats, etc. from knocking down the tanks. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I think I know what you talking about. One of those glad stretchy fit all lids and a large bubberband to keep it on. Thats a lid good enough to keep food fresh. Don't forget to poke holes:)

Well, if you have spider-fearful guests that crap their pants upon seeing spiders, keeping a few in the bathroom would be such a time saver....

Seriously, though.....I'm not sure how you would keep a lid on that, to be honest. It doesn't look like a rubber band would hold for very long. You might be able to custom make one out of plexi, and affix a hinge and hasp.

I personally like the idea, though. Run out of shelf room?? There's always the wall, LOL.

. That's a lot different than the one I was thinking about. You could put anything in there you could see tunnels in the dirt too. Great idea!

The plexi with hinges was what I was thinking too. Also drilling holes. I don't know how that would be on something curved, though.

Just three very tiny feeder guppies. One my son's has a snake that eats fish and those darn things are just waay too small for it now. Gotta stick'em somewhere to grow bigger as they are just babies.

That would be cool for slings for sure, if you could get a secure top. It would be really good for Avic slings because of the humidity when you shower and such.

Those bowls being used for bettas on the other hand - wow - wait until I show those to Mackenzie, he will flip out. He is huge on fish, and he always gets so angry when he sees bettas in those small bowls and such. When I told him I wanted a betta we both went and he got an actual aquarium with a filter and everything. His sister actually has a betta in a vase as a centerpiece on his parents' table and he goes off on her about it every time he sees her.

That's how I feel about bettas in those bowls too. I do have ONE of mine in a vase only because he freaks out in a bigger place and is much more active and builds bubble nests where he is now. He's an exception where I use the philosophy of 'Whatever makes him happy". Bettas don't like current in their tanks, which is why I don't use filters. People think they are fine in small tanks because of the rice paddy thing, but they fail to understand that the shallow waters are constantly being replenished by rains and slight winds. They also fail to understand that their range can be miles for a single betta and it's NOT just a 'puddle'. It's more like a really shallow river.

Anyway...I though the avics would be great there because of the humidity as well.

Adversary-thanks for the tip on the soldering iron. The 'betta bubble' people may just have a whole new market!

Welcome to the world of "Every container looks like a possible T enclosure" :D lol

I plan on using some of the wall fish bowls at T enclosures when I buy a house.. the house I am in, doesn't have the right walls for it :(

With the lack of filtration in those bubbles, i am surprised they are still hanging on. i know they're aren't being kept as pets, but they are still animals............ Why not provide them with their basic needs.

That said, the little bubble mounted on the wall with Ts in them is infinitely better than keeping fish in them. Could a patch of screen simplify the crossing over? i am unsure how you would secure a lid to that curve, but some adhesive and screen might work.....

I'm confused:? Your walls don't go straight up and down.

Oh good, you do it too. I was wondering if I had issues. I look at everything now like "can a T go in that". Just transferred my A. Versicolor into a new container. It was in a 4"x4"x4" container. It is now in a 2" diameter plastic kitty treats container that is 6" tall. I think he will like that better. I am doing the same next week for my A. Metallica. Here is what I have it in. http://www.pouncetreats.com/moist.htm The taller container of those two sizes. And of course the paper label and all glue has been removed.

I don't look at everything to see if it will make an enclosure but I do continually look for places to put more enclosures :)
Don't think the Mrs. likes the idea of moving the kid to the garage to use his room though
