Hello y'all! So to clarify I use to be scared of spiders like full on arachnophobia... I still am to a certain extent. But a wolf spider recently like a couple weeks ago made my home his/her home. Above my kitchen cabinets. Now mind you at first I was scared and asked my husband to take him outside bc he/she was in a spot I can't physically reach him/her bc I'm too short lol. Well he told me he's above you, don't bother him. He won't hurt you. Now fast forward to today. I talk to him/her on a daily, let him chill. My grandmother was gonna kill him the other day and I convinced her not to. He/she is pretty chill. When he/she is not eating, their watching me do dishes just sitting there, he/she acts like they wave at me sometimes🤣 but here lately he/she has me worried... He/she ain't acting right.. I came here to maybe get some answers and maybe help him/her. Mind you I don't know if it's a he or she and bc the spot he/she is in there's no way I can find that out. But if need be once my husband gets back from work he is taller and I'll get him to look for me. But he/she is constantly sleeping. And unlike usual when I come around (mind you he/she is above the sink, so hard to avoid or give them their privacy if that's the issue) he jumps out of his cave of a web and out into his like opening in the web. And it's like he/she waits for me to leave. Once I'm gone he/she goes back in their cave. What I'm wondering if this is normal behavior. Or did I make him/her mad. Bc mind you I've never taken care of spider before due to arachnophobia. But I came here to get some answers bc if something is wrong I wanna know how I can fix it bc I love this spider.... He/she is helping me get over my arachnophobia.... Thanks in advance!!!

Some pics of the spider and it's web would help us determine what kind it is, at least generally speaking. Knowing what it is will help us to know how it should be behaving, that way we can identify if there's something wrong. The fact that it's built a web and settled in there leads me to believe it's likely a female - males usually wander.

I think it's great that you're using this opportunity to work through your arachnophobia. The more you understand about spiders, the less you'll be frightened of them. If you have time, this YouTube video (and the rest of the series) is a great way to learn more about spiders in general and it's easy to understand...

I'll try to get some good pictures of him/her. If all else fails my husband gets off work at 4:00 and I'll get him to take some pictures of it and I'll post it on here. Thank you so much!!!

I wasn't able to really get a good one but I'll send you a picture as soon as my husband gets home.

Not mad at you... (Spiders are not emotional)
Just responding to 'Your Vibes'
Vibrations bring out the best in spiders.
Probably just checking if that disturbance it felt is some unlucky insect prey to feed upon.
Hopefully your fears are becoming less.

If it's gone from out and about to constantly hiding in it's little web retreat, then it may well be preparing to molt. They'll hunker down where they feel safe during that process, as it's their most vulnerable time.
