Hello all,
I have had my female jumping spider for a couple of months (first time jumping spider owner). She finally had her first molt since I got her and I don’t think it went well. She had a piece stuck to the bottom of her abdomen that she was trying to get off. She was holding her abdomen to the side and not moving around much. The dried piece finally came off and she ate a cricket a couple of days ago but now she’s not moving around much and is showing spastic movements. The movements look like she has the hiccups.
I found her at the bottom of her enclosure which I’ve never seen her do before. She fell to the bottom yesterday too. It’s like she’s not making her web. (Sorry I’m not getting any terms correct)
I’m just not sure what to do for her other than make her enclosure smaller with a soft bottom and keep the humidity higher. Even though she ate a few days ago her abdomen doesn’t look very big. I’m worried about trying to offer another cricket and I couldn’t find any fruit flies locally.
From what I’m reading I’m worried it’s abdomen separation probably from the bad molt. Poor girl. I didn’t get a very good picture of her last night but I’ll attach it anyway.
Thank you for any help!
