My dad, stepmom, brother, stepbrother, halfbrother, step grandparents an a bunch of people i still dont know go to the Smokies every year the first year we went 2007 we saw a 3.5 foot copperhead sittin there on a path they all said kill the #%$#%^#. So I calmly educated them on the snake and they all sorta got it so I ook my handy dandy snake hook and calmly moved the big gal ( I assume she was pregnant) Off the path and Placed her where no harm could be done to her!

They were trying to kill one in the smokies!!! Isn't that a nature reserve? Making it illegal, there can't be a good reson to kill any animal away from people in its own natural habitat anyway.
TBH

David, good job. By the way, Agkistrodon contortrix is my fave North American snake. Save one, make a few more.

 Copperheads are plentiful in my area and that makes unlearned people fearful of ANY snake encounter, so needless to say lots of non-venomous species get slaughtered around here. I guess this is a "just in case" attitude/approach? :?
Anyway, good save!! Education is the key to ending this kind of behavior, and we should all do our part.

"The only good snake is a dead snake!" So says a very good friend of ours. We have tried for years to convince her otherwise, but to no avail. :wall: We will keep trying with her as well as with others who are ignorant of the place these critters hold in nature's grand scheme.

Good job, David! Keep up the good work.

 I was at bear lake UT and I found a rattle snake of the path. I did not want anyone to know about because they were my moms stupid friends and they would want to kill it. I put it off to into the bushes with a long stick so no one would see it. The day after I heard someone had killed a rattle snake. I was PIST  off. the people who killed it poorly skinned it, took the rattle and threw it in the bushes.:?  :?
