For you all you cicada lovers, a cicada somehow got trapped under my garage shingles, and was constantly buzzing and flapping for many hours until I noticed it. So I got a rake to move the shingle, and a net, and managed to dislodge the cicada, all the while the loud buzzing was killing my eardrum. I let him go, so now he can live to sing another day. :)

Aw, I rescued a cicada on my way to class last week. It was on the ground after a night's storm and i picked it up, walked it to where I was going, warmed it up with my breath, and off it flew!

Plus, one night I happened to come across a few trees full of cicadas in the act of pupating, that was one of the most beautiful pupating insects I've seen.

ummm, they pupate underground...
(post quoted was deleted)

They don't pupate at all! Only the Holometabolous insects pupate, and Cicadidae aren't a part of that group, they are Homopoterans, which are Hemimetabolous.

You would see them molting to maturity above ground, which I admit is really awesome looking.
