Well Halloween turned out sucky. I was about to feed my new Nhandu coloratovillosis sling when the lid of my hobby cube it was in slipped off, noticed later it didn't fit right, and whoosh!!! The bedding, decoration, and T went hurdling to the carpet below. I set off a forensics area and searched and searched for a good hour and never found my T. Now I feel like the world's biggest douche and I'm kicking myself over it. I used a hyper white led flashlight too and never saw any indication of the T. It was only about 1/2" so you could imagine. I just don't know what to do. I guess I'm probably going to just chalk it up as a loss. I tell ya, I'm a careful guy. I'm pretty OCD and always take the utmost care. I just don't know...

Very sorry to hear about this...
Something like this happened to me when I accidentally dropped a vial I was holding
(it was open), on the floor and I saw the sling run in one direction and by reflex/instinct I immediately moved my foot in that direction against the way it was running to 'stop' it..
Well I stopped it alright.. :( poor little thing),
it was about a half inch, small enough to fit in just one of the grooves of my slipper...!

Don't beat yourself up too bad though...
I'm sure you'll learn from this, as I did...
And perhaps you'll find the little guy.. (?)..
Again I'm very sorry..

Sorry for your loss. I know what it feels like to think you've killed a T before. I got some avic slings and moved them into some tiny acrylic cubes. I left them on the floor and while looking for something inadvertently knocked every single one over. In that moment when I realized what I had done, I was horrified. I had knocked them over pretty hard and was sure that the substrate or cork bark had crushed them all. I do not know how, but all of them lived through the incident unscathed.

Try not to beat yourself up to much. This stuff will happen when you're dealing with tiny little creatures.

Sorry for your loss...
I had something similar happen with one of the REALLY tiny hobby cubes, except it was a 3rd instar Cyriocosmus perezmilesi. Let's just say they're VERY tiny... SOMEHOW I found it, though, alive and well, despite the cube flying to the ground and the sling being nano sized. It's still alive to this day and has molted twice since the incident

There may still be a slight chance. Maybe you'll find it months down the road, bigger, living off of whatever it finds?

Sorry to hear that :( Hopefully, by some miracle, you'll find the sling!

I'm sorry to hear. I really hope you find the little fella.

That's one downside to slings or tiny spiders. A mistake so small you take it for granted can end it for them. X-(

sorry to hear, although to be frank moose told you the right thing in this situation: almost anyone in the hobby have or will kill a T, especially slings as they are so delicate. don't blame yourself too much, i've done much worse and i consider myself a pretty good keeper ;)

Thanks for the confidence nudge guys. I appreciate it. Fran thank you being so considerate. I'm hoping to acquire an X. immanis in the near future and a P. metallica sometime after that. Thanks again all!

You didn't "murder" it, silly. That makes it sound like you did it on purpose... it was more like manslaughter... er... spiderslaughter.

In seriousness, I'm sorry for your loss, but don't beat yourself up over it. It was an accident. That happens. Sorry your Halloween didn't turn out too well due to it also.
