Somewhat of an announcement here..
I had two hirsutum slings I received a few months ago,
about an inch in size.
One had no appetite at all and the other ate at least once a week
and always had a fat bum.
I assumed the one that barely ate was in pre-molt, well here we are a few months later it still has not molted, but is doing fine.
The one with the better appetite ate, molted, grew plenty, and last week started showing all of the DKS symptoms. I seperated it just in case from where I keep my collection, and kept an eye on it but nothing changed, it got worse everyday. Looks like really bad seizures. I'd find it wrong side up, or trying to reach its spinnerets with it's fangs...
After about 5 days I really could not take it anymore and put him in the freezer.
Its extra weird because they were kept exactly the same way..
This happened while the boards were down and I was drawing a complete blank as to why how or even possible outcomes besides eventual death.
My situation made it twice as bad to not have "the support' of the boards..
Pretty bad week...
