Had a T that had been in premolt since the 18th of last month and this morning my son called me at work to let me know she molted. Anyone care to guess what this is..?..A complete color change i'll tell you that! Hope that does'nt mean she is turning out to be a he!

After a few days the normal color will return. They are slightly different after they molt, blacks become blues. And many other colors change to varying degrees.

It's my Lasiodorides Polycuspulatus, Peruvian Blonde "Gidget". Changed from a gorgeous golden color to this glossy black with gold/orange stripes!
Here she is before-

And now-

This was supposed to have been a guaranteed female when purchased,(was this size, not a sling) but I can't find any pics of an L. Poly like this...?.. I know the males are darker though..:?

This is very strange I wonder if Ryan has seen this maybe some more tarantula folks need to take a peek and give some explanations.

I am clueless to the drastic color change...Did'nt appear to grow in size any at all.

My C. huahini had an equally drastic color change with her last molt, and she is definitely a female. Some T's molt dark and then gradually fade again. T. Blondi change color that much when they molt too.

well... Maybe it was never a Lasiodorides Polycuspulatus but really a Lasiodorides striatus

100% not Lasiodorides striatus

Lasiodorides Polycuspulatus will look similar to L. striatus right after a molt. but their original color will come back. i promise.

Cool, I better get a few more pics of this ebony phase then 'cause i'm liking it! But- I do hope she returns to her honey "blonde" or i'll have to come up with a new name for her! __Thanks for the replies guys.
Now if only my P. Cancerides would change with a molt and get a cool new paint job...a little purple maybe.

She is gorgeous. I have a small sling...which seems to be taking forever to molt. At least these pictures give me something to look forward to in the future.

That is so bizarre. If the old exo wasn't right there I'd swear someone pulled a fast one on you. Be sure to post when the original color comes back. She is gorgeous on both counts!
