Hello. Hopefully someone can help me here. I have aquired a snake that I am not familiar with. I cannot find too much info them out there.

It is a Blood Python (Short Tailed Python). It is about 24" long or so. Still young, and docile.

What kind of ballpark to these snakes run..are we talking hundreds of dollars? I seem to find some one various oddball sites for like 350.00 each. Can this be true?

Hi Chris,

I'm by no means an expert, but I'll tell you what I know (or think I know!). Bloods need HIGH humidity. Like practically sitting in water is ideal. The catch is, the water has to be clean. Most folks aren't into doing water changes on their snake cages! If they get too dry, then they will have difficulty shedding, and can also become impacted. I think there are at least 2 "subspecies":

remainder of post EDITED to remove text which basically came outta my a$$. my memory sucks and I should have confirmed with some quick research. sorry!!

You should be able to find a CBB blood python for a lot less than $350. Check some of the ads on kingsnake.com

Here are pics of the python itself

Here are some pics that I am linking to on anther forum. Lets hope they show up!

The condition and setups in my garage are perfect for many animals. I curretly have 10 Tarantulas, 5 Scorpions, 2 bunnies, 2 Ball Pythons, 10 mice for breeding, approx. 4000 adult crickets, approx. 2000 pinhead crickets and now this short tailed blood sumatran python. The temp are 75 at night and 85 during the day. The humitidy varies between 65% to 80 %.

Any idea on what I can get for this snake if I decide to sell it?

Thanks, Frylock, for clearing that up. As I said, it's been awhile for me, and I'm no expert. I had forgotten all about brongersmai, and even reversed what I thought I knew about the other 2!
