I got my B. vagans today from Joe.

One of them I dropped, but ze's ok. I found him and everything. I named hir Lazarus. Don't know the sexes yet, and I don't like calling living things, even spiders "it," hence the gender neutral pronouns. I don't really care if the names match their sex though.

I overestimated the size of 1/2" so I'm going to need to get something better for them tomorrow, but for now they are ok.

Yay! :D

They hair a lot do they? Good to know. I got 'em cause I wanted a NW burrower. And Joe said he had some, that was really all there was to it.

They're sooooo cuuuuute. :p

Congrats on the new additions!

Don't you just love overestimating a size, and finding out your enclosures you spent hours setting up are too big? Of course, *I* have never done that... LOL

Congrats! B. vagans is an awesome species, though for whatever reason my never burrowed. She is however prone to mood swings.

I guess I just have an odd one, mines never made an attempt to burrow.

All 6 of ours have burrowed, too. Some more extensively than others. Actually, I think there's one that hasn't. They're awesome, at first I was like "what on earth are we going to do with 6 vagans?"..it wasn't really planned, we bought one at a show and bought a T off another member at that same show, and he gave us 5 free ones...so we left home with no vagans came home with 6, haha. They're growing like weeds though and are pretty spunky. Just gives me more reason to love Brachys!

I cant wait to get my vagans... I have 2 on their way home.. I have a B. albopilosum that eats like a bottom less pit and hairs to the slightest disturbance.. And a B. smithi that is a chicken.. It still runs from live prey.. Dang still pre-killing for that one.. Brachys gotta love them!! :D

I've had my vagans for fifteen years and she has never burrowed but she does have a little cage she likes to hang in on occasion.

Mine burrowed when it was smaller but now that she is an adult she rarely even goes in her hide.

I personally have never had any problems holding mine.

They really are great looking sp too.

Mine hasn't ever burrowed, though he does like aboveground hides under a phony plant leaf or a piece of cork bark. I put a background behind his container wall to partially close off the visible open space and he seemed happier. He gives me a reproachful look every time I bother him by feeding him, or giving him water, or existing. He doesn't scurry for his hide, just sits and heaves the spider equivalent of a heavy sigh. Low on excitement value, but high (much higher than I thought a spider could ever produce) on personality.
