Great video! Lovely reptile, I see the appeal of niles, they have such a serpentine quality to them, they look very huggable, and it's unusual of me to say such a thing!

Nice setup, I know little about nile monitors so I can't say if it's right or wron in any way but I sure do like it, I could fit in there comfortably! :p

I think it looks spot on, very nice. Its very similar to how we keep them at the shelter and at the serpentarium in wilmington. One thing and its all asthetics im sure is i would fill the substrate up to the rim of the pool, or use rocks around it. But you did say you would add more anyways. That is an extremely tame monitor you got there too, good job on that, I hardly get to deal with that nice of ones haha. One day you will need a bigger home but for a juvie that should do it for a long time.

I do have one question though, is the lattace a wall itself? Or have you placed it against one? Because monitors are quite distructive and the lattace by itself I dont think could stand up to one for a prolonged period.

Is that an ornate? I can't tell too much because I can't count the stripes or see its head or tongue clearly but it has a very heavy pattern to it.

no the wall isnt just lattice. its plywood with hardybacker board sealed along the whole interior. then i screwed the lattice to the hardybacker... ya i know one day i will need somthing bigger but for the next prob like 2 years its the best ill be able to do...

I don't know a lot about monitors, but the cage looks pretty good to me. I thought the video was interesting.
I wish my iguana had been as mellow as your nile monitor seems to be!

Very nice vid and setup! (To be honest, not that I had a clue about what they need, but it seems you put quite some thought into it.) :)
