Got lucky and was able to pick up these two T. Stirmis for $80 each at a local reptile store but I do need help with enclosure sizing please.
Hi there, I called a local reptile store, asked if they had T. Blondis, and said they did. Drove there almost an hour and to my surprise saw these two giants in these little containers for $80 each which seemed like a really great deal to me and really wanted to give them a better home. It was honestly what I wanted to do for 90% of that stores animals cause I felt so bad with the way the owner was keeping all of them-- wrong lighting, enclosures, substrates, and overall setups. He told they were T. Blondis over the phone but he doesn't really know much about what he's selling so had to tell he was misleading his customers and that they weren't T. Blondis and actually T. Stirmis since they didn't have hair on their patella.
Anyways enough complaining, I just ended up picking up both still since I thought it was still a good deal. I know the general setup and requirements for Theraposas from watching a handful videos and reading up on other people's setups but a bit unclear on enclosure sizing since I've only owned smaller Ts. I have a handful of these 5 gallon tanks that's 18 L x 8.5 W x 8.25 H that I was planning on putting them in. Would this work for them or should I get a bigger enclosure? If anybody has tipas as well it would be much appreciated. Always want to learn new things.
For reference, the hand in the photo is about 7 1/2 inches.
.
Edit: I also have one these 10 gallon 20 L x 10 W x 11 H as well which I do see more often for them I guess but I'm worried about humidity upkeep since it has a pretty big mesh opening at the top of it and a lot of holes on the top sides. I'm planning on keeping the humidity by keeping the bottom of the substrate wet/moist which seems like the common recommendation and a water dish inside.
