I.D. please-collected in Ar

This was found in a very rocky area in the hills around Dierks Arkansas. We actually saw about 6 or 7 under huge rocks but they were crafty & fast so we collected only 2. The shape reminds me a wolf but I have never seen a spider with this dark, brick red color. They were all about 2-2.5 inches although one big one had to be pushing 3". Apologies for the slightly fuzzy pic quality, thanks, ...yeah, he's missing a leg:eek:-I didn't do it!

Hi,

quite interesting find!

Could you please upload more pictures, especially of the eye section.

I second your opinion about the general built resembling somewhat that of a lycosid, however, what can be seen of the eyes here don´t fit to my opinion.

In the meanwhile you might want to check about the presence of Pisauridae and Ctenidae in that spot...

Not a Pisaurid, but does appear to be a Ctenid.
Ctenus sp.

Here's a couple more but he was not very cooperative:evil: . I am sure its probably something common for that area, it was just new to me.
