People aren't joking when they mention them having a hearty appetite!

The pet store had it labelled as a "sagafud".

Go figure.

It's about 2.5" long. Not sure of the species because I don't really know a whole lot about sagafuds (haha) as a whole. It's beige/yellowish and has a dark stripe running straight down its back. It's the first real one I've ever seen and has proven itself to be a fascinating creature for sure.

Is 2.5" referring to the specimen's legspan or body length?

Sorry, I should've clarified...the body is about 2.5" long. Its leg span is probably about 3.5" across. It did alot of pacing the first night and I figured it might be because I had it on a peat moss/potting soil mixture. A friend of mine gave me some black sand sold for reptile enclosures so I dumped it in. Now it's digging itself out a snazzy little den and seems much more comfortable.

Their VERY strange. mines been acting funny ever since it settled down lol.

But they are great fun:) if its yellow with two strips on the front legs (palps) then its an egypian banded sun spider, but don't know about ones with stripes.

It has the stripes on the legs but it also has a thicker stripe running down the abdomen.

I'm liking this thing more every day. It's certainly not bashful.

Being an overall yellow/tan color and having a body length of 2.5", the specimen is probably of the family Galeodidae. Galeodidae is a family of over 150 species and contains some of the world's largest solifuges. They are the most commonly sold of the Solifugae in the arthropod keeping hobby. Those of the genus Galeodes are the main species sold. Very interesting arachnids.
