OK... so i didnt buy a 'puppy' but i did buy a rat! My daughter keeps calling him 'puppy'. She walks around the house "wheres puppy? puppy, puppy....", so ya, to my daughter it is 'puppy' lol. The rat is actually very lovable, one of the most loving i have ever dealt with. Hes very shy though so we are working on that. I am happy to have a rat again, they make such great pets. Anyway, thats the news lol, i will get pics of 'puppy' pretty soon hopefully.

Cheers,

Aww, that's adorable. :)

Do you only have the one though? They always do better with a buddy, since people can't be with them 24/7.

leave it to spore to know a lot about animals, you'll have at least 20 by next next year if you listen to her advice lol...(This isnt a joke at all spore has great animal knowledge no sarcasm at all)

Yea but rats are very social creatures believe it or not much more so than many humans and smarter than many of them.

Yea i know, i realized my mistake and actually went out and bought another one today around the same size. This one was in a batch that were sold as feeders, not as pets. He is really sweet, maybe even friendlier than puppy :). They have been cuddling all day today, and grooming each other. Puppy seems a lot happier now that he has a pal, and i got them a decent setup complete with stand and light in the living room. Got a great big edible house for them, and a wheel to run on, but i am not sure if they will actually run on it, the lady at the petstore who keeps rats said they might not run on a wheel.

Anyways, they are really awesome, the only thing i hate is every time i hold them they crap on me. Grosss...... i am guessing they will do this until they get used to us handling them and stuff?

Ratties are still doin really good :). I enjoy them more and more the longer we have them. Last night marbles crawled up on my shoulder and fell asleep. He sits on my shoulder as i walk around the apartment, like a parrot or something lol. Marbles also is the more playful of the two, the other one just likes to lounge around and eat... but not marbles! He is always running around like he is on crack and jumping around, and like to pounce on puppy. These guys are so much fun, they have been a great stress reliever with everything going on, and its nice having a pet that shows some love and affection for a change... compared to say, tarantulas/scorpions/geckos hehe.

I am looking into a 5' cage for them that is pretty well decked out. Just need to clean it up a bit and then it will be their new home. They are very spoiled rats. Marbles seems to have a sneezing/runny nose thing going on. I am hoping he will be ok. If not i will probably end up taking him to the vet if it doesnt go away this week.

Puppy died this morning :(. No idea why, i just found him layed out dead when i checked on him around 6 am this morning. Took him back to the pet store and got a replacement that looks just like him. We shall see how this one works out :(. We are all very sad to have lost puppy, he was so friendly and we were all getting very attached to him.

We still have marbles however, and he was obviously very lonely this morning, i found him cuddling next to puppy's dead body :(.

Very sad day indeed.

I love rats, and have kept many. It's always heartbreaking when they die, especially when so young. :(

I had to stop keeping them because I always became too attached, it was like losing a dog every 3 years. I know how you feel. All you can do is enjoy them while their here.
