Hi this is my first post ever.
I am into keeping giant insects of various kinds.
I have kept a few Extatosoma tiaratum (spiny leaf insect) they are quite boring even though they look great.
I am thinking of buying giant hooded katydid eggs.
Has anyone kept these before?
Or any large phasmid species?
If anyone has had experience with such animals, please share.
It is important for me that they are relatively active.
Thanks!

Ive never kept any phasmids some look real cool but in general there all pretty boring to me. If you're into it why not look at some mantis? I have a Hierodula Membranacea (giant Asian mantis) there pretty active and great watching them hunt.

I have considered exotic mantids and i have also kept some native ones.
Funny little creatures but they unfortunately are very hard to breed and cannibalistic.
I chose Phasmids because they can coexist as a group
and breed happily even without males sometimes!
Anyway thanks for your reply.
I might reconsider my choice.
Is the giant Asian mantis easy to keep ?
Do they need special humidity / temperature and sutch?

Nah the giant Asian are really hardy as mantis goes I'd definitely recommend them they get to a decent size too. I keep mine in the range of 22°c to 24°c that's just the temperature my spider room gets and there fine in that, they are closer to the window though just for more of a day night light cycle my T room doesn't get direct sunlight it's north facing and the sun is south for me. I mist the enclosure every 2nd/3rd day with just a light spray there is plastic plants in the enclosure that pools up some water. They will eat pretty much anything, although it's advised to stay away from crickets I've had no issue with feeding the odd cricket.

Maybe I will try them out.

They look almost identical like the native ones in Greece.
