Anyone ever explore this attribute?

The fondness this sp has for water is very apparent to me. My 1.5-2" gigas seems to very much enjoy frequent misting (3 times per week).

Should a sp that has a yearning to be near water be offered a water dish at an earlier stage in growth?

Do T's swim at all?

I.e- If you put one in a shallow tub, would it actually swim if it had to?

Somewhere on this site, there is a thread of a small fish tank setup inside the spiders tank. It's stocked with feeder gold fish and the gigas stands by the edge of the tank with it's front feet in the water to feel vibrations of passing fish. Once one it felt, it leaps in the water and catches the fish and climbs out of the water with it's catch. You should do some more searching on this. I'm sure you'll find some good info.

Nevermind, I found it. Take a look. Click Me :)

This study has actually been done, and there is an article at the American Tarantula Society website. You can check out the article here.

There sure is a lot of "linking" going on. Haha!
