Don't do that. If your bark needs that kind of cleaning, get other bark. If you want to kill any organisms in it, use heat.

What are you trying to accomplish?

Read I Just Sterilized My Entire Setup!

Direct answer: Hydrogen peroxide decomposes very quickly to oxygen and water on contact with almost everything. Ever notice how it fizzes on a cut or scrape? Neither the peroxide, nor the oxygen, nor the water will do any more harm to your tarantula than they would to you. Having said that, hydrogen peroxide is such a poor disinfectant that you'd probably accomplish the same cleaning with plain tap water.

Wise words. I did this without paying attention and the cork bark did catch on fire. Let me tell you, it takes a VERY, VERY long time for that smell to get out of the microwave!! My ex was NOT happy!

What made it worse is that she told me not to do it. So I waited until she went shopping with her friend. I figured what she didn't know wouldn't hurt, until I saw the smoke! I frantically used EVERY type of cleaner we had in the house to try to get the smell out before she got home. Every meal I ate for the next month was cooked in that microwave, while everyone else had nice stove-cooked meals. Burnt cork is NOT very appetizing! Lesson learned!!

Wait wat? Almost sounds like the ex pulled a "now I told you not to do that, so that's all you're allowed to cook with for the next month". I'm hoping for the sake of your manhood that's not what happened ;).

It was more of "See, everything tastes just fine!" trying to prove her wrong. The first week was the worst, after that it either became more dilute or I just got used to it. Pride can be a horrible thing sometimes, or maybe it was stupidity (if there is a difference). ;)
